Top 2027 Wedding Trends: What’s In for Virginia Weddings

For the last few years, weddings have been getting quieter.
Soft neutrals. Delicate greenery. Minimal tablescapes. Simple florals. Everything beautiful, everything tasteful, everything perfectly coordinated.
But as we start looking toward 2027 weddings, something is changing. Couples are ready to have a little more fun.
One of our preferred wedding vendors, Creations by Brenda, recently summed up what she expects to see in 2027 perfectly:
Keep simple at home. Go BIG at your wedding.
And honestly? We think she might be onto something.
The wedding industry is already beginning to move away from celebrations that simply look pretty and toward weddings that actually feel like something. Couples aren't just asking how they should decorate a room anymore. They're asking how they can create an experience their guests will remember. And that opens the door to a whole lot more personality.
More Is More... But Make It Personal

Going big doesn't necessarily mean covering every available surface in flowers or blowing your entire wedding budget on décor.
It means choosing moments and making them matter. Maybe that's an enormous floral installation hanging over the dance floor. Maybe your tables are layered with patterned linens, fruit, candlelight and unexpected color. Maybe cocktail hour feels like an entirely different world from dinner. Or maybe it's wearing something untraditional.
The weddings we're watching emerge for 2027 aren't afraid of color, texture or scale. But more importantly, they aren't afraid of personality. The goal isn't to make your wedding look like everyone else's version of maximalism. It's to create something that couldn't possibly belong to anyone but you.
If you're obsessed with vintage furniture, use it everywhere.
Love disco? Give us disco balls.
Want a candlelit dinner that feels like your guests wandered into a secret garden after dark?
Let's make the entire room glow.
Go big on the things that feel like you.
Your Wedding Is Becoming an Experience
This might be the biggest shift of all. Couples aren't only designing weddings anymore.
They're designing experiences.
Think about your wedding from your guests' perspective. They arrive at the ceremony and immediately feel something. Then cocktail hour gives them something new to explore. Dinner changes the atmosphere again. Later, the lights dim, the music changes and suddenly the reception feels completely different.
The wedding unfolds instead of simply happening.
That can happen through décor, but it can also happen through food, cocktails, music, lighting and little surprises throughout the evening.
A beautiful centerpiece is lovely.
A room that makes 120 people stop when they walk through the doors?
That's a memory.
Color Is Allowed Again

We're calling it now: we're ready for color. Ivory and greenery will always be beautiful, but couples are becoming much more confident about introducing richer palettes into their weddings.
Deep reds. Berry tones. Emerald. Cobalt. Terracotta. Mauve. Unexpected combinations that probably aren't supposed to work together—and somehow absolutely do.
And color doesn't have to stop with the flowers.
Bring it into your glassware. Your candles. Your linens. Your stationery. Your lounge furniture. Your signature cocktails.
Instead of choosing one wedding color and matching everything to it, think about creating an entire color story.
Let it layer.
Let it evolve.
Let it get a little weird.
Flowers Are Becoming Art
Florals aren't disappearing in 2027. They're getting more interesting. Instead of simply putting a flower arrangement in the middle of every table, couples and florists are thinking about the entire room.
Sculptural arrangements. Flowers growing up structures. Grounded ceremony installations. Oversized pieces. Unexpected shapes. Florals mixed with fruit, branches, moss, candles and texture.
Rather than asking, “What centerpiece should we use?”
The question becomes:
“What should this space feel like when people walk into it?”
That's a much more interesting question.
Lighting Might Be the Most Underrated Wedding Décor
This one gets us excited.
Because you can completely transform a familiar space without adding another flower.
Candlelight. Lamps. Café lights. Pin lighting. Colored lighting. Dramatic pools of light over tables. A reception that becomes warmer, darker and moodier as the evening goes on.
Lighting creates atmosphere in a way décor alone can't.
And for 2027 weddings, atmosphere is becoming everything.
Imagine having dinner in a romantic candlelit barn and then, when it's time to party, watching that exact same room transform.
Same space.
Completely different feeling.
Cocktail Hour Is Getting Its Own Personality

Cocktail hour doesn't need to feel like the waiting room between your ceremony and reception.
Make it part of the wedding.
Create a lounge with vintage furniture. Give the bar its own design moment. Build signature cocktails around your personalities. Add interactive food. Bring in live music. Give guests something unexpected to discover.
At Eden Try, this is something we already love playing with because couples have several spaces around the property that can become part of their wedding day.
Your ceremony doesn't have to look like cocktail hour. Cocktail hour doesn't have to look like dinner. And dinner doesn't have to look like the party that happens afterward.
Give each part its own chapter.
The Perfect Wedding Doesn't Have to Be Perfect Anymore
Maybe this is our favorite 2027 wedding trend.
Weddings are becoming less about recreating a perfectly coordinated Pinterest board and more about creating something that feels alive.
Mix the patterns.
Use Grandma's candlesticks next to modern glassware.
Put a vintage sofa underneath a disco ball.
Wear the ridiculous second dress.
Serve the cocktail you drank on your first date.
Play the song everyone tells you isn't a “wedding song.”
Your guests aren't going home talking about whether your napkins perfectly matched your bridesmaids' dresses.
They're going to remember how your wedding felt.
So... Are 2027 Weddings Going to Be Over the Top?
We certainly hope so. But not over the top simply for the sake of being over the top.
We think 2027 is going to be about intentional excess.
More personality.
More atmosphere.
More color.
More experiences.
More moments where your guests look around and say, “This is SO them.”
Your home can be neutral.
Your everyday life can be practical.
Your wedding gets one night.
Go big.
We'll help you figure out where to put the disco balls.
